| If you guys know me, I'm usually a pretty organized and neat person. But things at work are quite hectic right now; the firm is going to trial on a big case on September 8th. I've been working 10-11 hrs/day every day for the past week. This is what my office looked like tonight (all pictures were taken with my 3g iPhone. The resolution is surprisingly good for a camera phone).
My desk

Close-Up of my Desk and Wall...no need for a cork board...I just Scotch tape them suckers to the wall...

At least this part of my office is relatively clean.

Trial Witness Books being prepared on the floor.

Trial Notebooks (on the floor of course)

A few boxes full of new binders (if you couldn't tell, attorney's LOVE binders) and my cart with some other unrelated case.

I'll take more pictures of my office after trial when all this junk is picked up and organized. Or better yet, I jus need a bigger office to spread out my stuff.
TUESDAY HAIRCUTS at TGI Haircutters
So I'm sitting at TGI Haircutters (I think that's the name of the place I go to) for my monthly Tuesday haircut (it's the Tuesday $10 adult haircut special....yes I'm cheap), and Allison, who has cut my hair on at least three occassions, starts up a conversation with me. We make the usual small talk and then she asks me, "So how is your summer going?" I pause...was a bit confused by the question and thought, "My summer? Is it even summertime? Am I suppose to be on a vaction or relaxing because it's summer? Why nobody has asked me how my summer was going since high school..(keep in mind this lady should know what I do for a living from my last haircut with her)."
I say, "My summer?" She says, "Yeah, since school started this week you know, I always think of the beginning of school as the end of summer." Now, I'm thinking in my head, "Why is this lady talking to me like I am a high school student and got the luxury of a summer break, when she has cut my hair plenty of times and already knows I work?" I wanted to say, "Lady, don't you know that people who work full time jobs don't have summers...or spring breaks, fall breaks, or winter breaks??" But I refrained and politely said, "Oh, I didn't even realize it was the end of the summer (true) I don't really pay attention to the seasons since I work everyday."
Allison is quite strange. This is the same lady who asked me (after having already been talking to me for about 15 min while cutting my hair last month), "So, how long have you been in the United States?" Sheesh....I could've done oh so many things with that question but did not....
| I did lots of cooking this weekend. I actually cooked every single meal this weekend. I bought a Cuisinart personal deep fryer. It rocks!
Crab Wontons - cream cheese, green onions, imitation crab, wanton skins; (some are folded into little hats like you see in those asian restaurants...I prefer the triangle pieces better)

Creamed Spinach - heavy cream, spinach, onions, garlic, sharp cheddar cheese, salt, pepper

Above dishes with Lemon Pepper Salmon - sock-eye salmon, olive oil, lemon pepper seasoning, sea salt

Green bean casserole - cream of mushroom soup, green beans, soy sauce, milk, salt, pepper, onion crisps
Asparagus - olive oil, salt, pepper
Orange Roughe - olive oil, salt, pepper

Le Madeline Strawberries Romanoff - brown sugar, white sugar, heavy cream, sour cream (yes that's right, it uses SOUR CREAM...bet ya'll didn't know that!)

I've never cooked so much in one weekend; but it was a lot of fun. Everything came out great. Clean-up was not fun. . But thanks to D for all the help.
Does cooking at home save money versus eating out at a restaurant? No way. Cooking is about the same price as eating-out due to the large number of ingredients needed to make the food and all the water/electricity I have to use. Is cooking healthier than eating out? Maybe...but defintely not MY cooking heh heh.
I think I'll start eating out again . It's faster and less tiring!
| In my pursuant to become Lil Emeril, I had to "take it up another notch." So, I bought a cast iron grill pan today. MAN! I don't know why I didn't buy one of these long ago. This thing cooks steaks like never before. (Yes, I've had steak two nights in a row okay.)

I learned from last night's marinade: never use light soy sauce. This time, I used regular soy; what a difference. Other than that, same ingredients, except that I used a ribe eye cut as my choice of cow.

GRILL MARKS...YES!

"BAM!" Perfection.

| I just got in my new Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless Cookware set for a great price on Amazon. My first cookware set was about $30 from Wal-Mart; they sucked...over time the bottoms of the pans warped so that when you cook, liquids migrate to one spot. They also developed heavy burner stains (but that's probably because I didn't clean them thoroughly and let food drip down the sides of the pans).
I'll try to take care of my new set. This is a semi high-end set of cookware. It'd say it's priced around the middle compared to the competition. I saw sets as much as $1000! I ain't that good of a cook to even know how to use a set like that (yet).
So, for my first meal, you take these babies
